The Importance of Resembling Ernest
Fans of Ernest Hemingway could be in for a treat if they show up in Florida's Key West in July as the Hemingway Days Festival takes place.
The centrepiece of this tribute to the author, which lasts from July 19th to the 22nd, is the lookalike contest at Sloppy Joe's bar, which sees a plethora of Hemingway look-alikes all vying to be the Papa lookalike champion for 2007.
Linked to Hemingway's birthday, the event also features two of his other favourite pastimes, bull running and arm wrestling.
Apart from the festival, Key West offers a wealth of things to see and do.
Set off the southern coast of Florida, the town offers sunshine and sand, boating, fishing, diving on America's only coral reef and the curiosity of being the southernmost point in the continental USA.
Naturally enough, Key West has plenty of accommodation, including cheap hotels.
