Virgin Celebrates 20 Years of Gatwick to Orlando Flights
Virgin Atlantic is commemorating 20 years of flights from Gatwick to Orlando by taking one family on the holiday of a life time, according to reports.
With the majority of British holidaymakers using the route to go to Disney World, the airline is offering one family the chance to be overall marshals in the Disney Dreams Come True pre-parade at the theme park resort.
Virgin Atlantic's chief executive, Steve Ridgway, said: "20 years on this sunny and fun-filled destination has never lost its appeal for British holidaymakers."
Virgin launched the Gatwick to Orlando route in May 1988 and has since taken nearly 10m passengers to the popular Florida destination.
"Year after year families continue to visit the home of world-renowned Walt Disney World with almost half of all Brits choosing to fly with Virgin Atlantic. With the combined effect of the strength of the pound against the dollar and our great fares there really is no better time to visit Florida," said Mr Ridgway.
According to reports, Virgin Atlantic is considering a merger with the German-based airline Lufthansa.
