Waterfalls Unleashed in New York

Waterfalls unleashed in New York Holidaymakers staying in cheap hotels in New York this summer will be able to see an impressive new tourist attraction – four man-made waterfalls.

The waterfalls are located on Governor's Island, under the Brooklyn bridge and on two piers along the East River.

These locations mean that visitors can see the waterfalls from both the Manhattan and Brooklyn sides of the river.

The installations are based on metal structures that stretch 30 metres into the air and create falling flows of water between ten and 20 metres in width.

New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg attended the inauguration ceremony for the waterfalls on June 27th and described the new attractions as "an unbelievable sight".

Olafur Eliasson, the artist who created the waterfalls, told AFP: "Water has great potential to be both physical and very elusive, it can be many different things for many different people."

Visitors to New York will be able to see the waterfalls until October 13th.
