Weaves from Timbuktu to Tibet Come to New York

Weaves from Timbuktu to Tibet come to New York The New York Historical Society will be exploring the exotic art of rug-weaving at a special exhibition this year.

People staying in cheap hotels in New York can visit the exhibition, called Woven Splendour Timbuktu to Tibet, between April 11th and August 17th.

The display, which will comprise dozens of rugs and textiles loaned by New York-based collectors, will set out to express the beauty of Oriental rugs and delve into the sense of mystery that surrounds that part of the world.

Visitors will also be able to learn more about the Hajji Baba Club – America's oldest and most prestigious rug collecting organisation – which will be celebrating its 75th anniversary.

Those interested in exploring this exhibition can find the New York Historical Society at 170 Central Park West.

Another show that will be attracting the interest of people exploring New York in April is the Lion King tenth anniversary exhibit at the Time Warner Centre.

This display will include costumes and other original pieces from the set of the ten-year-old Lion King show on Broadway.
