What's That Coming over the Hill, is It a Lobster?

What's that coming over the hill, is it a lobster? Seafood lovers suffering frustration at a lack of crustacean can relieve the problem in style by visiting Los Angeles.

From September the 14th to 16th, the port of San Pedro, close to Long Beach, hosts the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival, where lobster fans can claw their way though vast quantities and a wide variety of lobster delicacies.

According to organisers, entry (cash only) is $8 (£4), with nippers under 12 going free.

The food is accompanied by plenty of entertainment, including various kind of music and a competition for dogs dressed up as lobsters, which hopefully won't be so convincing they end up in the pot.

Visitors staying in cheap hotels in Los Angeles can enjoy plenty of other attractions, with the climate offering warm, sunny days on the beach even in September, while the city is fringed by high and attractive mountain scenery.
