Where the Big Birds Roam
Those looking to see something a bit different in America will no doubt find plenty of ways of fulfilling their wish, but in Arizona there's something really, really different in March.
Held from the 9th to the 11th of the month, the Chandler Ostrich festival celebrates everything to do with the farming of the huge, flightless birds in the state with a wide range of activities.
The highlight is the ostrich racing (with riders on ostrich-back), plus an incredible dog challenge for those whose four-legged friends can do tricks, a carnival and a local history fair.
Music and a fun run complete the entertainments, while visitors can enjoy lots of other ostrich-related fun and products, with those who have enjoyed watching the flightless wonders running around getting the chance to tuck into an ostrich burger afterwards. (Luckily there will be other foods available).
The area has plenty of accommodation, including cheap hotels.
