Wily Stuff

Wily stuff Visitors to Chicago in February will be in luck if they love the arts, for the Around the Coyote Winter Festival will be taking place from the 8th to the 11th.

The coyote in question is the nickname of the Northwest Tower, rather than the customer of Acme who spends his life fruitlessly chasing the roadrunner.

The venue is one of two, along with the Flatiron Building, to showcase work by local artists in the Wicker Park and Bucktown areas of the city.

Wicker Park and Bucktown are regarded as the art centre of Chicago, a bohemian area which produces a wide array of visual art, theatre, drama and poetry and has been running the festival since 1999.

Visitors staying in cheap hotels in Chicago can enjoy the culture while doing plenty more interesting things in and around the city.

These include a number of museums and art galleries, as well as a fine display for skyscraper enthusiasts put on for free by the city skyline.

Chief among these structures is the Sears Tower, the world's tallest office building, which offers dramatic views from its 103rd floor Skydeck, while boat rides can be enjoyed on the nearby Lake Michigan.
