Wish You Were Beer
Those who love a pint may find late April to be a good time to visit California as the 24th international San Francisco Beer Festival takes place.
Held at the Fort Mason Centre between Fisherman's Wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco Bay, the event is ticket only, but once inside there is no limit on the beer that can be drunk, although there is also food as well.
Over 150 beers from around the world will be on offer in the event, from which all proceeds go to the Telegraph Hill Cooperative Nursery School.
Tickets can be bought from March 17th and visitors should note that the legal drinking age in the state is 21.
Apart from the beer, San Francisco offers a wide variety of attractions for visitors staying in cheap hotels.
While many will be attracted by the bohemian lifestyle, there are also the fabulous views to be had from a trip over the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, not to mention plenty of chances to put to sea, visit the famous Alcatraz island with its prison or, if the beer isn't enough, head north to visit California's wineries.
